Title: Server Innovation: DC-MHS and SFF-TA-1033

Description:

Recently the Open Compute Project (OCP) released 1.0 specifications for the Datacenter – Modular Hardware System (DC-MHC) focused on the modularization of key building blocks used to construct servers. The interchangeability and reusability of the component modules allow for tailored configuration to support Edge, Hyperscale, and Enterprise market applications.

A critical piece of the project is the standardization of the interconnect. Internal cable assemblies have been a vital piece of server architectures and will continue to be important in this generation of deployments with a special focus on the interoperability of the modular components. The SFF-TA-1033 provides implementors the flexibility to support both high-speed and power connections and the scalability to support a wide range of bus widths and sidebands. This paper will introduce the SFF-TA-1033 solution and describe how it fits into the DC-MHS ecosystem.
